The challenge

Asbestos poses serious health risks, including lung cancer and mesothelioma. Building owners and managers are legally obliged to ensure their properties are free of asbestos containing material (ACM). The process of identifying, collecting, and testing construction materials for asbestos is complex, time-consuming, and requires meticulous documentation.

Solution

ECC offers a complete range of asbestos testing and consulting services to assist clients in complying with regulations and safeguarding occupant health. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, ECC’s experienced professionals accurately identify and quantify ACMs in various building materials. In the case of asbestos testing, the main tasks are to take samples and to keep track of them. Originally, this was done with paper forms filled out on-site, and transcribed in the office.

ECC partnered with Think Design to develop a web-based solution. We replaced the paper-based workflow with a simple-to-use responsive app, which automates and centralizes the entire process, from initial inspection requests to in the field sample collection to laboratory testing and final report generation. The application also allows for the systematic classification of materials based on lab results.

Results

ECC has successfully assisted numerous clients in identifying ACMs, helping them avoid regulatory violations and protect occupant safety. The software solution developed by Think Design has significantly optimized ECC’s operations, resulting in improved data accuracy, faster turnaround times for reports, and enhanced efficiency of its employees.
